About Steven Serneels
In 1992, Steven Serneels started his own company: S&V Management Consultants, specialised in supply chain and operations strategy. As a business entrepreneur, and together with his business partner Peter Verstraeten, he grew the company to about 100 people with offices in Europe and US, working with senior management of medium and large companies.
They sold the company in 2008 to Mahindra Satyam, Steven remaining in charge as CEO. In 2011, Steven joined Ashoka Global, Washington, as a strategic advisor.
Now, Steven is investor and board & IC member of SI², a for profit social impact fund, providing growth capital to European for profit social enterprises. He is also chairman of Kampani, a social impact investment fund to unlock the potential of entrepreneurial farming in the South. Steven supports as well directly some (social) enterprises with the potential to generate major societal and/or environmental benefit.
He is also board member of some other companies such as I-Propeller and TrustedFamily where creating ‘shared value’ is a key lever for both growth, profitability and societal impact.
Steven is visiting Professor at Hult International Business School, Dubai, lecturing on Business in Society. He lectures as well at HEC, Paris, on Inclusive Business and Social Entrepreneurs.
He is (co-)author of papers on various topics dealing with the role of business in society, one of them being EVPA’s report on ‘Corporate Social Impact Strategies – New paths for collaborative growth’ (May 2015).
