The European Venture Philanthropy Association (EVPA) is a strong community of about 300 members sharing the same vision and a common goal: creating positive societal impact through the practice of venture philanthropy and social investment.

Celebrating its 15th anniversary last year, EVPA is proud to have initiated the Venture Philanthropy (VP) and Social Investment (SI) movement in Europe, turning it into a thriving ecosystem and a growing market engaging social investors, foundations, corporations and policy makers in supporting social innovators and scaling their impact.

EVPA today is a well-established and growing organisation with members from over 30 countries, connected through events and activities to share best practices on scaling impact through investments and move the ecosystem forward. As a strategic partner of the European Commission in building this sector and with a team of 20+ full-time dedicated professionals, at EVPA we share insights, develop knowledge and training, shape public policies and make our members stronger and our ecosystem more vibrant.

In 2020 EVPA has launched a new long-term project in cooperation with the European Commission concerning market building for social investment and social entrepreneurship ecosystem in Eastern Partnership Countries – EaP countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine, Russia). The EaP project will involve cooperation with local partners, based in those countries, co-development of the activities with them and its implementation.

Key tasks & responsibilities

To implement those activities and to reinforce its operational capacities, EVPA is looking for a Financial Coordinator.

This is a full-time role, based in Brussels. The role reports to the Head of Finance.

As a Financial Coordinator you will be the link between the financial coordinators of the local partners of the EaP project, the EaP Project Manager and the EVPA Finance Team.

  • You will work closely with the EaP Project Manager, EVPA financial supervisors and the financial coordinators of the local partners in the EaP project to collect, check financial evidence and follow up on financial reporting according to EU regulations.
    • You will be familiar and up to date on necessary EU regulations with regards to financial reporting.
    • You will collect and organize financial files, reports, and invoices for the EaP project according to EU regulations.
    • You will perform other administrative duties in relation to EaP project and other activities, such as bookkeeping, billing, liaising with suppliers and staff to revolve AP queries and ensure all payments are properly authorized and documented.
    • You will utilize spreadsheets to track budgets, dates, and other information in cooperation with Project Team and Finance Team, and ensure that all the documents and evidence are rightly and timely collected and stored in an internal online repository
  • You will engage in the coordination activities of EaP project, prepare and present any relevant financial information
    • You will join regular meetings of the EaP Project Team to follow up with the team on schedule with regards to implementation of the project plan
    • You will ensure that all the documentations are in place and collected as evidence if needed.
    • You will communicate regularly with the financial coordinators and the EVPA Finance Team with regards to reporting and evidence collection of the EaP Project and other needed documents.
    • Prepare project report templates and timesheets for staff.
    • Monitor staff timesheets submission and verify allocation is applied according to project budget.
    • Deal with budget amendments.
  • Liaison with the other EVPA team members with regards to financial reporting and evidence collection of EU funded projects and other financial activities.

Skills & qualities

  • Excellent organizational skills because you are responsible for compliance with the financial requirements and reporting standards for the multiple partners involved are organized neatly and follow EU regulations
    • Experience in handling financials and reporting requirements in EU funded multinational projects, following EU reporting regulations and evidence collection
    • Ability and experience in planning activities, building schedules and timely follow up on their implementation
    • Detail oriented, consistent, quick, and responsive learner
  • Excellent communication skills because you work with multiple partners, team members across different nationalities
    • English: written and spoken
    • Russian or any other EaP language will be an advantage
    • Patient, empathetic and clear and concise communication
  • Understanding of and familiarity with the financial context of the Eastern Partnership countries and the broader CEE region will be an asset
  • Experience in working in international dynamically changing environment and teams, or in CEE/Eastern Partnership countries would be an asset
  • Self-motivated, driven by ambitious EVPA vision, attentive, stress resistant, comfortable with prioritising several competing tasks and responsibilities
  • Experience in data and information gathering and analysis and ability to transfer it into readable reports
  • BA degree in accounting, finance, economics or related field
  • 2+ years related work experience
  • Proficient with MS Office Excel and familiarity with CRM systems and practices (Salesforce), and other online tools like DropBox, Slack, Trello, etc.
  • Knowledge of Exact Online is a plus
  • A passion for venture philanthropy, social venture financing or social entrepreneurship, and interest in policy related issues will be perceived as advantage
