Grant to help foster the exchange of good practices at pan-European level, aiming at expanded capacities of the national education systems and at distance, innovative, effective and inclusive learning, and increasing opportunities for the European EdTech industry.

Financing type: Action grant

Main objective: This action will support the digital transformation of the education sector at European level by boosting innovation in education in Europe and more specifically by supporting EdTech start-ups, SMEs and incubators to accelerate their disruptive EdTech solutions. The project will also support the strategic priorities of the Digital Education Action Plan 2021-2027, and specifically one of its actions, the future European Digital Education Hub and will contribute to the European Education Area framework.

Expected results and impact:

The project will support closer collaboration and community building in the digital education sector in Europe amongst European EdTech start-ups/SMEs/incubators and other relevant stakeholders. It will foster the exchange of good practices at pan-European level, aiming at increased capacities of the national education systems at innovative, effective and inclusive learning. And also help the education sector to be better prepared for possible future crisis, such as additional lock-downs due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It will also offer opportunities for the European EdTech industry, while promoting European ethical values regarding the use of educational technologies and data shared in Europe. It will contribute to increase synergies and complementarity between initiatives in digital education, in particular in view of the Erasmus programme and Horizon Europe. It will identify the specific digital, pedagogical and other relevant skill sets needed by the workforce to be employed in the EdTech sector and the possible ways to acquire them. The project will develop, make publicly available and disseminate the guidelines and the roadmap for the development of the EdTech sector together with the skills toolkit for the EdTech workforce.

a) maximise the number of EdTech stakeholders coming from at least 14 Member States taking actively part in the pan-European network connected with all relevant actors and linked with other existing pan-European networks, initiatives and programmes;

b) exchange good practices, market trends and insights of the EdTech start-ups/SMEs landscape of Europe identified in each MS;

c) set up relevant network activities to increase the opportunities of the EdTech companies on the European and global EdTech market in the long run;

d) promote European excellence in educational innovation.

e) Quality and relevance of the support provided to EdTech companies by offering them relevant business and educational mentoring and training services.

f) Quality and robustness of the developed guidelines, roadmap and skills toolkit

Who is eligible:

  • legal entities (public or private bodies)
  • established in one of the eligible countries, i.e.:
  • EU Member States (including overseas countries and territories (OCTs)
  • non-EU countries: listed EEA countries and countries associated to the Digital Europe Programme or countries which are in ongoing negotiations for an association agreement and where the agreement enters into force before grant signature (list of participating countries)

Beneficiaries and affiliated entities must register in the Participant Register — before submitting the proposal — and will have to be validated by the Central Validation Service (REA Validation). For the validation, they will be requested to upload documents showing legal status and origin. Other entities may participate in other consortium roles, such as associated partners, subcontractors, third parties giving in-kind contributions, etc
