A Good Bet: How to effectively select grantees and investments

Active Philanthropy will be hosting a field session showing you how to find outstanding grantees and investments. The session will show you how to discover and assess the impact of your social engagement. Through on-site visits and meetings with innovative players in the social space, Active Philanthropy explores the pros and cons of impact investing and philanthropy as methods to help great organizations grow. They will demonstrate how you should complete your due diligence and get a behind-the-scenes look at how organizations track their social impact.

  • Active Philanthropy will introduce you to Andreas Heinecke; who moved millions of people to think differently about disability. You can openly  discuss with him the pros and cons of receiving a grant versus an impact investment.
  • Then you can hit the streets with refugee women Mebrak Zeray, Shykri Abdulahi, and Nabila Noori who started a catering service as a social business.
  • Come explore how the conditions NGOs can be transformed into a social business.
  • Axel Seemann, a seasoned investor, will share insights on how to find and support that next social unicorn.
  • This Field Session also includes an optional half-day workshop on how to read a social investment business plan, using real-life case studies
