Central Eastern Europe - CEE

EVPA has been the first one to introduce the concept of the venture philanthropy and social investment (VP/SI) in Central & Eastern Europe (CEE) region.

About CEE

In 2014, when EVPA decided to launch its activities in Central & Eastern Europe (CEE) the concept of venture philanthropy and social investment was unknown. We have been the first to introduce the concept to a broader audience and to also bring the promise of a sustainable approach to funding social change in the region.

Over the years, we have seen how social investment has been gaining interest among different stakeholders who want to use venture philanthropy and social investment as new approaches to giving and philanthropy in the region.

Social Investment Leveraging Index: Investing for Impact in Central and Eastern Europe

Over the last nearly thirty years, the countries of Central and Eastern Europe have made enormous progress in the field of economic and social development. The economies the countries in the region are developing at a faster pace than the countries of Western Europe. However, certain key social need remain unaddressed. With social development being in various areas uneven, the countries of Central and Eastern Europe still face many problems. A solution to addressing such needs may be targeted funds and patient capital provided by social investment and venture philanthropy funds.

Created by the consulting company Deloitte in cooperation with the European Venture Philanthropy Association (EVPA) and the Global Social Entrepreneurship Network (GSEN), the Deloitte Social Investment Leveraging Index (DSILI) shows that social investments in Central and Eastern Europe may have potential return on investment and have a significant social impact.
