Hogan Lovells

Hogan Lovells provides long term pro bono legal support for social enterprise/social investors, through participation in a programme that develops their trainee and junior lawyers’ commercial acumen and understanding of social impact in business; they call this programme HL BaSE Training.

After receiving two days of mini-MBA style training, delivered in partnership with Ashoka, teams of trainee and junior lawyers provide on-going pro bono support to their social enterprise clients, under senior lawyer supervision.

They invite social enterprises/social investors seeking legal support in the following jurisdictions to apply to participate in HL BaSE Training: UK, Germany, France, Italy, Poland, Spain, Russia, Luxembourg, The Netherlands and Belgium.

What support is available?

The support begins with a workshop at their central London office, during which each social enterprise sits down with its team of trainees/junior lawyers to carry out a legal-needs analysis, under senior lawyer supervision.

Together, the social entrepreneur and the legal team will identify one key legal issue that the social enterprise is facing; such as a new investment round, a key commercial contract, or an intellectual property issue.

Following the workshop the legal team will continue to work with their client, on a pro bono basis, until the agreed work on the key legal issue is complete.

The next iteration of the HL BaSE Training programme will begin with a workshop on Friday 25 October 2019.
