Professor Filipe Santos, Chair of EVPA receives global Prize for Social Innovation

Filipe Santos, Dean of Católica Lisbon School of Business & Economics and Chair of the European Venture Philanthropy Association has just received the Social Innovation Thought Leader 2019 Award from the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship, a world's leading organization for social entrepreneurship, partner of the World Economic Forum. This recognition was announced at the opening of the Sustainable Development Impact Summit, a World Economic Forum event that is taking place in New York on 23-24 September.

Filipe Santos, Dean of Católica Lisbon School of Business & Economics and Chair of the European Venture Philanthropy Association has just received the Social Innovation Thought Leader 2019 Award from the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship, a world's leading organization for social entrepreneurship, partner of the World Economic Forum. This recognition was announced at the opening of the Sustainable Development Impact Summit, a World Economic Forum event that is taking place in New York on 23-24 September.

Since the year 2000, the Schwab Foundation recognises the work of social entrepreneurs and this year decided to reward also social innovators working in academia, business and the public sector. The Social Innovation Thought Leader award was presented to Filipe Santos for his intellectual leadership in social innovation and the promotion of social entrepreneurship and social investment worldwide, including directing the INSEAD Social Entrepreneurship Program for 10 years, promoting the nascent social investment field since 2010, and designing and launching the social innovation policy for Portugal in 2015-2017.

About this award, Filipe Santos refers: “I have been following the excellent work of the Schwab Foundation over the years so it is an honor to receive this award and a privilege to be part of this community of leaders for social impact in the world”. Europe can become the leader in social innovation and investing for impact worldwide and, through my work as Dean of CATÓLICA-LISBON and chair of the European Venture Philanthropy Association, I aim to continue contributing to this endeavor.

Filipe Santos is leading EVPA’s executive course: Scaling Impact for Social Investors - 3rd edition taking place on October 10 and 11 in Lisbon, delivered in partnership with Católica-Lisbon School of Business & Economics.
