Alison Bukhari


Educate Girls

Alison is a non profit management professional with over 14 years' experience in the Indian development sector. She moved to India in 2002 and worked for 7 years as a director of Magic Bus, one if India's leading children's NGOs.

In 2009 she joined Dasra, a foundation leading the development of a philanthropy ecosystem in India where she was was pivotal in securing the seed funding for the Dasra Girl Alliance a large funding and capacity building programme focused on adolescent girls. She set up and lead the European offices for both Magic Bus and Dasra before joining Educate Girls in 2015.

Alison has a depth of experience working at a field level in India in education, community development, gender equality and child protection and has a particular interest in innovation in development funding. She is now the UK director of Educate Girls, sharing lessons learnt from their Development Impact Bond and she advises a number of NGOs and philanthropists on their work and funding in India.

Alison has an MA from The University of Edinburgh, and started her career with Christie's Fine Art Auctioneers as a specialist in British and Anglo-Indian art.
