Anna Patton

Pioneers Post

Anna Patton joined Pioneers Post in 2018 as managing editor, overseeing the day-to-day publication of news, features and opinion on all aspects of the global impact economy. As well as writing and editing stories each week, she works closely with partner organisations to co-develop special series on themes such as impact investing or running a social enterprise. With her colleagues, Anna has also mentored a group of young journalists in six countries, and designed and delivered training for journalists and social entrepreneurs in Ethiopia, Sudan and south-east Europe.

Prior to Pioneers Post, Anna held various roles in journalism (including as a UK correspondent for the international development specialist, Devex) and in nonprofit communications, working with Voluntary Service Overseas, the British Council, and a Brussels-based communications agency, among others. While living in Tanzania for a year, she oversaw the communications of the Belgian government's aid work in the country, and she has led numerous community and youth media projects in Uganda, Kenya and the UK. Anna has also trained as a facilitator of participatory media, is a fellow of the On Purpose social enterprise leadership programme, and has been closely involved with the US-based Solutions Journalism Network.
