Richard Catherall

Richard has an international development perspective to social businesses and scaling. His company, Katarsis Ventures, aims to demonstrate to others that it is possible to nurture innovation, enable enterprise and pipeline investment in hard places, such as emerging economies and post-conflict zones.

From this experience and from Europe, he believes the opportunities for venture philanthropy in supporting social businesses to scale are actually quite similar, and this means that opportunities are being missed globally. Richard will bring examples of scaling enterprises in south Asia and the Euro-Mediterranean regions, focusing on effective capacity building, market access and systemic impact.
